We are honoured to announce that Westminster Security have been awarded the prestigious Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award for our efforts in supporting the Armed Forces community over the past 9 years.
Westminster Security were the first private security company to sign the ‘Armed Forces Corporate Covenant’ as it was called back in 2015, a trend that we proudly set in our industry and thankfully a very worthy movement that has gained momentum and meaning in the corporate world. But instead of chasing awards we chose action. It is nice to be recognised, but action speaks louder than words, and there is much to be done in supporting those who have served.
Our chosen ex-military charity and a cause very close to our hearts is ‘The Block‘ whom provide crisis support and guidance for service leavers and veterans, emergency accommodation for homeless veterans, food parcels and financial support for veterans in need. Recently they celebrated successfully housing their 106th admission, helping on average 250 veterans a year with their mental health and wellbeing. They were also featured on SAS legend Billy Billingham’s BBC show ‘SAS: Catching The Criminals’. Westminster Security have sponsored and supported The Block since their formation over 4 years ago seeing them go from strength-to-strength, our collaboration growing stronger and closer each year.
Our support for the armed forces community extends to employing veterans and their spouses, employing active reservists, supporting their training and deployment commitments with generous paid leave allowances. And writing highly detailed and informative articles assisting service leavers in writing their CVs, advice on training, and gaining employment in the highly competitive close protection sector.
But as mentioned earlier, there is much to be done and we will be doubling our efforts and support as we strive towards rightfully gaining the Gold award in our 10th year of being AFC signatories.
